Ingredients:

  • 1 pound macaroni pasta
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the cheese sauce: Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens.
  3. Season the sauce: Stir in the salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese, and cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  4. Combine the pasta and sauce: Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!

Optional:

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce.
  • To make it extra cheesy, top with additional shredded cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
